Are you a worrier?
Predicting the worst-case scenario on a regular basis keeps our mind on constant alert, interfering with our quality of life. Do you find yourself always projecting into the future and being bombarded with “what ifs?” Do you find yourself unable to keep up with all the disasters coming your way? Do you experience panic attacks, migraine headaches, muscle tension, IBS, sleeping problems or irritability? If you answer yes to any of those questions, you may be lacking an efficient emotional self-regulating system, causing a hyperactive anxiety to run wild.
So, you are a worrier who comes from a family of worriers, what’s wrong with that? Anxiety is an emotion, just like excitement, sadness, or anger. We all feel it at certain times, throughout our lives. And it’s a good emotion to have because it keeps us safe by preventing harm, as an alarm would do. On the other hand, if our anxiety is overacting, it wastes unnecessary energy, and its impact causes much wear and tear on our mental and physical health.
CBT can easily help you develop a more effective emotional regulation system that will allow you to feel more in charge of your anxiety, managing its intensity and duration. You’ll feel more rested, focused, and productive. You mind and your health will appreciate it :)
